There are many different silhouettes to consider when buying a dress here is a short summary of each:

Ball Gown: The infamous ball gown. Ball gowns have a fitted bodice and flare out into a full skirt. This is the perfect dress for any bride wanting to feel like a princess on her special day.

A-Line: A line gowns are fitted through the waist and then flare out resembling the shape of an upper case A.

Drop Waist: Drop Waist gowns are similar to an A line but instead of flaring out at the waist, they are fitted through the hips and then flare out.

Empire Waist: Flares out slightly below the bust.

Trumpet: Trumpet gowns are fitted all the way to about mid-thigh where they flare out.

Mermaid: Mermaid gowns are fitted and flare out around the knee.

Sheath: Sheath dresses have a slim shape. They are relatively straight and fairly simple.

Tea-Length: Tea length dresses fall at about mid-calf.
